The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria has told all petroleum marketers to suspend all activities in Maiduguri the capital city of Borno.
This information was disclosed in its circular letters to all petroleum marketers in Nigeria on February 6, 2023.
The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has issued a circular letter to all petroleum marketers in Nigeria, instructing them to suspend all activities. This was due to the scarcity of petroleum products and the resulting losses incurred by their members. The Chairman, Alhaji Mohammed Kuluwu, stated that this decision had been taken as it was affecting the sourcing and selling of products at loss due to authority-imposed prices.
The circular content was:
“Following the critical situation as it affect our sourcing and selling of product at lost and the action of the authority to impose the selling of product at a lost on our side. You are all hereby directed to suspend sellng at all filing stations and suspend payments of ordering products from source till further notice”
This suspension will be felt throughout Nigeria as there is no other source for fuel apart from these independent petrol marketers, who are now unable to continue operations until further notice from IPMAN or authorities involved in pricing decisions regarding fuel products. It remains unclear how long these suspensions may last.
