Breaking: Inauguration Stage Collapses After Abba Kabir is Sworn in as Kano State Governor
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on WhatsappShare on Telegram

On Monday, a dramatic incident unfolded during the inauguration of Abba Kabir as the Governor of Kano State, as the stage where the ceremony took place collapsed just after his swearing-in. The unfortunate incident occurred at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano, shortly after Kabir, a chieftain of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), officially assumed office as the new governor of the North-West state.

The collapse of the stage occurred while Governor Kabir, his Deputy, and the acting Chief Judge were all present on the podium. Eyewitnesses reported that several youths had climbed onto the rooftop of the podium, which ultimately led to its collapse. The sudden turn of events surprised and shocked those in attendance, creating a chaotic scene at the inauguration.

Fortunately, despite the collapse, Governor Kabir, his deputy, and other officials emerged unharmed from the incident. Prompt action was taken to ensure their safety, and they were confirmed to be in good condition after the incident. The immediate response from security personnel and event organizers helped mitigate any potential injuries or harm.

Abba Kabir, a close ally of NNPP presidential candidate Rabiu Kwankwaso, assumed the position of Kano State Governor, succeeding Abdullahi Ganduje of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The inauguration ceremony marked the beginning of his tenure as the leader of the state.

While the cause of the stage collapse was attributed to the presence of individuals climbing onto the rooftop, further investigations may be conducted to determine the exact circumstances and any potential negligence or security lapses that may have contributed to the incident. The safety of public events and the well-being of attendees remain paramount concerns.

As Governor Kabir assumes office, he faces the significant responsibility of leading Kano State and addressing the diverse challenges and aspirations of its people. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of ensuring proper security measures and infrastructure for public events, underscoring the need for continuous vigilance and adherence to safety protocols.

As the news of the inauguration stage collapse spreads, it is expected that authorities will thoroughly investigate the incident and take appropriate measures to prevent such occurrences in the future. The focus will now shift to Governor Kabir’s administration as he begins his term, with the hopes and expectations of the people of Kano State resting on his ability to deliver effective governance and drive positive change.
