The spread of novel Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) in Nigeria continues to record significant increases as the latest statistics provided by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control reveal Nigeria now has 172,821 confirmed cases.

On the 29th of July 2021, 558 new confirmed cases and 2 deaths were recorded in Nigeria.

To date, 172,821 cases have been confirmed, 164,940 cases have been discharged and 2,141 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

A total of 2.44 million tests have been carried out as of 29th July 2021 compared to 2.36 million tests a day earlier.

COVID-19 Case Updates- 29th July 2021

  • Total Number of Cases – 172,821

  • Total Number Discharged – 164,940

  • Total Deaths – 2,141

  • Total Tests Carried out – 2,439,850

According to the NCDC, the 558 new cases are reported from 16 states- Lagos (376), Oyo (33), Akwa Ibom (26), FCT (22), Imo (15), Bayelsa (13), Ekiti (13), Kano (12), Ogun (11), Plateau (11), Delta (9), Jigawa (6), Rivers (4), Zamfara (4), Edo (2), and Ebonyi (1).

Meanwhile, the latest numbers bring Lagos state total confirmed cases to 62,887, followed by Abuja (19,956), Kaduna (9,141), Plateau (9,091), Rivers (7,569), Oyo (7,025), Edo (4,932), Ogun (4,746), Kano (4,016), Ondo (3,534), Kwara (3,162), Delta (2,663), Osun (2,588), Enugu (2,490), Akwa Ibom (2,390), Nasarawa (2,389), Gombe (2,1129), Katsina (2,114), Ebonyi (2,039), Anambra (1,909), and Abia (1,700).

Imo State has recorded 1,667 cases, Bauchi (1,551), Benue (1,366), Borno (1,344), Adamawa (1,134), Taraba (1,001), Ekiti (936), Niger (935), Bayelsa (920), Sokoto (786), Jigawa (551), Yobe (499), Kebbi (450), Cross River (404), Zamfara (244), while Kogi state has recorded 5 cases only.
