David Umahi, Governot of Ebonyi state has conventionally declared his aspirations to run for the office of presidency in 2023, stating he has officially informed President Muhammadu Buhari of his presidential ambition in 2023 under the All Progressive Party (APC).

Recall, Bola Ahmed Tinubu earlier declared his intentions to run for the 2023 presidency, with the National Leader of APC also informing President Buhari on his intentions to be his successor come 2023

Governor Umahi disclosed this to State House Correspondents after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa; he stated his government would ensure national growth.

On his chances of winning the election, he said he would not be discouraged by Tinubu’s entry into the race because he believes that the contest is not about might but will be decided by who God endorses.

“The Bible that I swore with in 1 Samuel says that by strength shall no man prevail, and power and might belong to God. He chooses whomever he wills and he will do that in 2023. I’m not in contest with anybody, I’m in contest with myself,” he said.

Tinubu had on Monday 10th January 2021, declared his ambition to preside as Nigeria’s next President during his visit to President Buhari, to intimate him of his ambition, a move many believe may have foreclosed the chances of a president of Igbo extraction.
