According to a recent report by job search platform Indeed, job listings requiring expertise in generative AI command a salary premium of 47%, making it the highest-paying tech skill in demand.

Maggie Hulce, Executive Vice President and General Manager at Indeed’s job seeker division, notes a significant uptick in interest and demand for AI-related roles. She highlights that searches for generative AI jobs on Indeed have skyrocketed by nearly 4,000% over the past year, accompanied by a remarkable 306% surge in job postings for such roles since September 2022.

Job titles such as machine learning engineer and software engineer feature prominently among roles requiring expertise in this domain. On average, positions involving generative AI boast a salary potential of $174,727.

Moreover, some companies are seeking individuals capable of leveraging generative AI tools like ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot to streamline administrative tasks, indicating a broad spectrum of opportunities in this field. For instance, freelancers offering services utilizing generative AI tools command premium rates, with experts charging up to $300 per project.

For those looking to enhance their skills in generative AI, a multitude of learning avenues exist. Online courses, boot camps, and specialized training programs tailored to AI development offer practical experience and flexibility to accommodate busy schedules. Additionally, renowned institutions and tech companies such as Google and Udemy provide comprehensive courses in AI.

Hulce emphasizes the importance of leveraging available resources, including employer-sponsored training initiatives and networking opportunities within the professional ecosystem. By tapping into these resources, individuals can stay abreast of emerging tools, training opportunities, and avenues for upskilling, fostering professional growth in the dynamic landscape of AI technology.
