Despite efforts by the Federal Government to prevent it, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has commenced its nationwide protest against the prevailing hardship across the country.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, took steps to intervene by inviting Labour leaders to his office for discussions. However, following the meeting, NLC President, Comrade Joe Ajaero, announced that the planned protests would proceed as scheduled.
In a statement issued after the meeting, Comrade Ajaero emphasized the determination of the NLC to push forward with the protests, highlighting the urgency of addressing the challenges facing Nigerians. He also called on security agents to ensure the safety and protection of the protesters during the demonstrations.
The decision to continue with the protests underscores the widespread concern among Nigerians about the current state of affairs, including rising inflation, unemployment, and other socio-economic issues. Despite government efforts, many citizens continue to grapple with financial hardship and other difficulties.
The nationwide protests organized by the NLC serve as a platform for citizens to voice their grievances and demand action from the government to address the pressing issues affecting their lives. As the demonstrations unfold, all eyes will be on both the protesters and the authorities to see how the situation evolves and whether meaningful dialogue and solutions can be achieved.
