Federal Government approves Abba Kyari’s Repatriation to US

The Nigerian government has called for more commitment from the private sector and the general public in the provision of safe drinking water to meet the WASH plan sector.

The call was made by the National Chairman of the Nigerian Institution of Water Engineers, Miss Nnenna Igwegbe at the 4th International Water Conference in Abuja.

Miss Igwegbe said that there is need to critically look into research and intervention of new technologies for Water conservation, appropriate price of water, climate change mitigation and improvement of water distribution infrastructure in Nigeria.

According to Miss Igwegbe, Nigeria have surface water in almost every part of the country and abundance stored in the ground and despite the availability of surface and ground water, one would think that Nigerians have plenty of water to drink.

The challenges of water in Nigeria did not just start we have human factors and natural factors which we have called in climate change which is affecting the water in the aquifer, where we can source water from, everything is deflecting, the one that we have is how do we manage it, we are suppose to be talking about management of water, because water is already becoming scarce and this could lead to war.…she said

The issue that address water in the rural areas is to see that rural areas have portable water to drink and this safeguard there health and  would also help improve clean water for them to be healthy and to go about your normal life duties, so we are believing that the water engineers in the local government,  in the State as well as the Federal Level will come together to being nature based solution, Miss Iqwegbe added…
