The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has held a high-level meeting with members of the International Airlines Association of Nigeria to enhance service delivery and resolve operational bottlenecks at the country’s airports.
The interactive session, which took place at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, focused on strengthening collaboration between FAAN and international airline operators.
Henry Agbebire, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at FAAN, led the engagement. According to a statement released by the authority on Sunday, the meeting provided a platform for both parties to discuss challenges affecting airport efficiency and passenger services.
Airlines Raise Operational Concerns
During the session, airline representatives highlighted several pressing issues, including:
– Inadequate signage caused by ongoing landside construction
– Limited availability of lifts and shuttle buses
– Poor airside ramp markings due to ongoing construction activities
The airlines also requested greater support from FAAN to improve overall customer experience for passengers.
Agbebire assured stakeholders that all concerns raised would be carefully reviewed and addressed. He emphasised FAAN’s commitment to improving service delivery and operational standards across all airports in the country.
“This session was aimed at fostering a stronger working relationship between the Department of Protocol and Passages and airline operators, while also providing an opportunity to listen to some of the challenges of the airlines,” the statement noted.
The meeting forms part of FAAN’s broader strategy to create a more efficient and passenger-friendly airport environment, especially as major infrastructure upgrades continue at key gateways like Lagos and Abuja.
Improved collaboration between FAAN and international airlines is expected to lead to better protocol services, smoother passenger movement, and higher standards of service at Nigerian airports in the coming months.
