Despite cases of insecurity in some parts of the Federal Capital Territory, the Minister of State for FCT, Dr. Ramatu Aliyu, has said that the nation’s capital is safe and conducive for doing business.

According to a statement on Friday by the Chief Press Secretary to the FCT Minister, Anthony Ogunleye, Aliyu spoke after a meeting of the FCT Security Committee on Thursday.

The minister was quoted as calling on residents to be vigilant, communicate with one another and security agencies on all suspicious people or activities within their vicinity, in order to safeguard lives and property across the territory.

The statement was titled, ‘Security: FCT Administration calls for cooperation of residents.’

It read, “We are reassuring the FCT residents that the city is safe and the environment is also good with ease of doing business.

“But by and large, the security apparatus in FCT is very much awake and the information gathering network is very much active.

“On the issue of kidnappings, she revealed that while the crime has indeed reduced in many parts of the territory, this has not been the case in a few others. She, however, assured residents that the security agencies were working hard to curb the crime in those areas.
