The naira lost ground against the US dollar on Monday, 5 October 2026, trading at N1,331.6875 per dollar on the Central Bank of Nigeria’s official foreign-exchange window. In the parallel market the currency was quoted at N1,355 for buying and N1,365 for selling, according to AbokiFX.
Official Market Movement
Central Bank data showed the naira traded at a Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market rate of N1,331.6875 per dollar and closed the session at N1,332.9000. On the previous trading day, 2 October, the NFEM rate had stood at N1,330.0965. The currency therefore depreciated by at least N1.59 during Monday’s session.
Parallel Market Softens
On the black market both buying and selling rates fell by N10 compared with Friday’s levels. AbokiFX recorded N1,355 (buy) and N1,365 (sell) on Monday.
Persistent Spread
A gap remains between the two markets. The official closing rate of N1,332.90 compares with the parallel-market selling rate of N1,365. For businesses and consumers this difference continues to make dollars obtained on the street more expensive than those accessed through the official window. While parallel-market rates eased, the modest depreciation at the official window points to ongoing pressure on the naira.
