NBS Reports N715 Million Revenue for Nigerian Railway Corporation in Q3 2022

According to the latest Rail Transportation Data for Q3 and Q4 2022 released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) generated N715.09 million from passengers in Q3 2022, a 60.52% decrease from the N1.81 billion generated in Q3 2021.

The NBS report also revealed that N101.84 million was collected in Q3 2022 as revenue from goods/cargos, a 7.04% drop from the N109.56 million collected in Q3 2021.

Other receipts, however, grew by 707.31% in Q3 2022, compared to the N14.61 million recorded in Q3 2021. Despite the decrease in passenger and goods revenue, the number of passengers increased by 18.36% annually. In Q4 2022, the NRC generated revenue of N1.15 billion from passengers, indicating a decrease of 39.54% from Q4 2021, while revenue from goods increased by 63.56% to N157.23 million.

The number of passengers also increased by 30.10% from 1.03 million persons in Q4 2021 to 1.34 million persons in Q4 2022, but the volume of goods transported decreased by 1.50% in Q4 2022.
