Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has become the world’s second-richest person after his net worth increased by $122 billion over the past year. The Bloomberg Billionaires Index now values his fortune at $372 billion, a 48.7 per cent rise from the same period in 2025.
In the latest update the 62-year-old added $7.31 billion, a 2 per cent gain. That places him ahead of Alphabet co-founder Larry Page and behind Tesla and SpaceX chief executive Elon Musk, whose wealth is estimated at $1.02 trillion.
Sources of the $372 Billion Fortune
Bezos’s wealth is concentrated in three main holdings. His Amazon stake remains the largest publicly traded asset, worth about $230.8 billion. He holds roughly 8.2 per cent of the company, according to an August 2026 regulatory filing.
His investment in Blue Origin is valued at approximately $123.5 billion following a September 2026 funding round that put the space company at $140 billion. His stake in the artificial-intelligence startup Prometheus, which he co-founded in 2025, is estimated at about $12.2 billion.
Other assets include roughly $4.7 billion in cash, the Washington Post valued at $250 million, and his superyacht Koru, assessed at $500 million.
Blue Origin and Prometheus Drive Gains
Blue Origin accounted for one of the largest single contributions to the rise in Bezos’s fortune. The company raised $10 billion in September at a post-money valuation of $140 billion, according to PitchBook data. Bloomberg estimates Bezos owns about 93 per cent of the firm and applies a 5 per cent discount for its private status. That valuation adjustment added roughly $85 billion to his estimated net worth in October 2026.
He has also expanded his artificial-intelligence interests through Prometheus. The startup raised capital at a $41 billion valuation in June 2026, with Bezos estimated to hold about 35 per cent. A Wall Street Journal report cited by Bloomberg indicated he had invested approximately $30 billion in the business before the latest funding round.
Musk Remains Well Ahead
Private space-company valuations have also lifted Elon Musk’s fortune. Musk became the world’s first trillionaire after SpaceX’s initial public offering in June 2026, with his wealth rising by about $405 billion over the year. At current estimates he remains roughly $648 billion ahead of Bezos.
The figures underline how much of the top of the global wealth ranking now rests on private valuations rather than listed shares, with space and artificial-intelligence assets providing the largest gains.
