The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) have recently taken delivery of brand-new mass transit boats for staff use. This is a major step forward in the agency’s commitment to promoting the Blue Economy, as well as regulating Nigeria’s maritime domain.

The Director General of NIMASA, Dr. Bashir Jamoh, said this in his official Twitter handle on Tuesday.

Dr. Bashir Jamoh, Director General of NIMASA said that this move will allow their presence and brand to become ever-dominant in our waters. Players, operators, and stakeholders will be able to engage with NIMASA more directly with real-time experience and value. The new mass transit boats are an important part of fulfilling both mandates mentioned by Dr. Jamoh: promoting the Blue Economy while also regulating Nigeria’s maritime domain.

This initiative by NIMASA is certainly admirable as it shows a commitment towards providing efficient transportation options for its staff members while also working towards developing sustainable solutions that benefit not just its employees but all Nigerians alike through better utilization of resources from within our country’s vast water bodies. It should be noted however that this development comes at a crucial time when many other industries have been adversely affected by the high cost of transportation and traffic.
